Abstract In this research, we hypothesized that Ormosia arborea (Vell.) Harms seedlings should grow better and achieve greater levels of gas exchange when grown in soils with higher water availability. Thus, this study was developed to assess the metabolic responses of the seedlings to different levels water availability. Irrigation was performed on alternate days, at water holding capacities (WHC) of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The metabolic responses were analyzed at 15, 50, 85, and 120 days after starting treatments. The O. arborea plants grown in conditions of higher water availability (75% and 100% WHC) had higher leaf water potential and chlorophyll content, in addition to higher values for chlorophyll a fluorescence and gas exchange, than those grown in other conditions. Water deficit caused by low levels of water availability (25% or 50% WHC) reduces leaf water potential, chlorophyll a fluorescence, and gas exchange. As a strategy to tolerate stress, seedlings tend to invest in their antioxidant system, as shown by the high levels of activity of the enzymes Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Peroxidase (POD), and Catalase (CAT). Although the seedlings may be tolerant to cultivation under 50% WHC, the best functioning of the photosynthetic apparatus occurred under WHC of 75%.

Resumo Nesta pesquisa, hipotetizamos que as mudas de Ormosia arborea (Vell.) Harms crescem melhor e alcançam maiores níveis de troca gasosas quando cultivadas em solos com maior disponibilidade de água. Assim, este estudo foi desenvolvido para avaliar as respostas metabólicas das mudas a diferentes níveis de disponibilidade hídrica. A irrigação foi realizada em dias alternados, nas capacidades de retenção de água (CRA) de 25%, 50%, 75% e 100%. As respostas metabólicas foram analisadas aos 15, 50, 85 e 120 dias após o início dos tratamentos. As plantas de O. arborea cultivadas em condições de maior disponibilidade hídrica (75% e 100% CRA) apresentaram maior potencial hídrico foliar e teor de clorofila, além de maiores valores para a fluorescência da clorofila a e trocas gasosas do que aquelas cultivadas em outras condições. O déficit hídrico causado por baixos níveis de disponibilidade hídrica (25% ou 50% CRA) reduz o potencial hídrico foliar, a fluorescência da clorofila a e as trocas gasosas. Como estratégia para tolerar o estresse, as mudas tendem a investir em seu sistema antioxidante, como demonstrado pelos altos níveis de atividade das enzimas Superóxido dismutase (SOD), Peroxidase (POD) e Catalase (CAT). Embora as mudas possam ser tolerantes ao cultivo com menos de 50%, o melhor funcionamento do aparato fotossintético ocorreu sob 75% de CRA.

Resumo O alto índice de consumo de hortaliças estimula o cultivo e aumenta a demanda quanto à adequação dos processos produtivos. O ataque da praga Plutella xylostella causa grandes perdas por reduzir a qualidade do produto, caracterizando um problema fitossanitário. Este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a bioatividade de extratos aquosos de folhas de Jacaranda decurrens e Jacaranda mimosifolia nas concentrações de 5, 10 e 15% sobre o inseto. O teste de escolha foi realizado em laboratório para determinar o efeito alimentar de extratos vegetais e avaliar alterações no ciclo de vida de insetos expostos a compostos ativos por meio da análise de parâmetros biológicos. Os extratos vegetais de J. decurrens e J. mimosifolia apresentaram classificação fagodeterrente nos experimentos de escolha. As três concentrações de extrato de J. decurrens promoveram um prolongamento da duração larval e pupal, enquanto a duração dos indivíduos tratados com J. mimosifolia a 10% foi significativamente reduzida. Ocorreu redução na sobrevivência larval de indivíduos tratados com extratos aquosos de J. decurrens e J. mimosifolia. Ovos dos tratamentos com extrato aquoso de J. decurrens e J. mimosifolia tiveram sobrevivência reduzida. A sobrevivência pupal dos indivíduos tratados com extrato a 15% apresentou redução significativa em relação aos tratamentos a 5% e 10%. Pupas do tratamento com extrato aquoso de J. mimosifolia apresentaram redução de biomassa no tratamento a 15% diferindo do controle e 5%. Assim, os extratos aquosos das espécies J. decurrens e J. mimosifolia apresentam potencial inseticida nos testes realizados em P. xylostella.

Abstract The high consumption rate of vegetables stimulates the cultivation and increases the demand regarding the adequacy of the production processes. The attack of the pest Plutella xylostella causes high losses by reducing product quality, typifying a phytosanitary problem. This study aimed to verify the bioactivity of aqueous extracts of leaves of Jacaranda decurrens and Jacaranda mimosifolia at concentrations of 5, 10, and 15% on the insect. The choice test was carried out at the laboratory to determine the food effect of plant extracts and evaluate changes in the life cycle of insects exposed to active compounds through the analysis of biological parameters. Plant extracts of J. decurrens and J. mimosifolia presented with phagodeterrent classification in the choice experiments. The three J. decurrens extract concentrations promoted a prolongation of larval and pupal duration, while the duration of individuals treated with J. mimosifolia at 10% was significantly reduced. Occurred reduction in larval survival of individuals treated with aqueous extracts of J. decurrens and J. mimosifolia. Eggs from treatments with aqueous extract of J. decurrens and J. mimosifolia had reduced survival. Pupal survival of individuals treated with extract at 15% showed a significant reduction compared to the treatments at 5% and 10%. Pupae from the treatment with aqueous extract of Jacaranda mimosifolia showed a reduction in biomass in the treatment at 15% differing from the control e 5%. Thus, the aqueous extracts of the species J. decurrens and J. mimosifolia show insecticidal potential in the tests performed on P. xylostella.

Abstract The present work evaluated the physical-anatomical and initial growth of Tabebuia roseoalba seedlings exposed to different water regimes. The seedlings were grown under 100, 50, 25 and 12.5% of the water retention capacity (WRC). After 90 days, the following aspects were evaluated: height, diameter, fresh and dry weights of aerial and root, root length, and leaf area, Dickson quality index, liquid assimilation rate, relative growth rate, specific leaf area, stomatal index, and number of trichomes and leaf epidermal cells. The results indicated seedlings have greater initial growth and quality when cultivated at 100% WRC, and 25 and 12.5% WRC represented stress conditions for the plants. The species is hypostomatous with anomocytic stomata. The number of stomata, the stomatal index, and the number of epidermal cells did diminish with reduced water availability. The number of trichomes were larger on the adaxial face as water availability decreased.

Abstract In this study, we assessed the gas exchange in Caryocar brasiliense seedlings in water deficit conditions and their capacity to recover after rehydration. We assessed plant photosynthetic rates, internal carbon concentrations, stomatal conductance, transpiration rates, water-use efficiency, instantaneous carboxylation efficiency, chlorophyll index, and photosystem II quantum efficiency. All gas exchange parameters were reduced after the suspension of irrigation. Seedling photosynthetic rates approached zero after 12 days. The equilibrium was reestablished in all variables 11 days after re-initiating irrigation, with the exception of internal CO2 concentration and stomatal conductance. Exposure of seedlings to water stress resulted in drastically reduced photosynthetic processes. This reduction occurred due to the limitation of stomatal conductance and low rubisco carboxylation efficiency but not to irreversible damage photosystem II. All of these parameters demonstrated recuperation with rehydration, but only the photosynthetic rates reached initial control values.

ABSTRACT The knowledge of the germination responses of seeds from plants growing along river margins or in areas susceptible to flooding is an important factor in the adoption of restoration practices. Considering that maturation of fruits of Genipa Americana L. when river margins are flooded, we raised some questions: Is seed germination of this species affected by water submersion, and, do distinct seed populations present differences in germination? Seeds of G. Americana were submerged in water for different periods to assess the germination and growing responses, using populations from different locations. Water submersion decreased the germination percentage and the germination speed index, and increased seed mean germination time in both populations. Growth was found to be hampered for most variables in the different seed populations. The adaptation of G. Americana to flooding involves the seeds being tolerant to submersion, with this factor not being effective in distinguishing populations studied here.

El objetivo de este trabajo consistió en evaluar el efecto de los pre-tratamientos con giberelinas, la humedad inicial del sustrato y la temperatura de incubación sobre la germinación de Psidium guineense Swartz. Las semillas se sometieron a cuatro tratamientos previos con giberelina (GA3) (50 y 100 mg L-1) y agua destilada durante 24 horas y un control. La siembra se hizo en papel Germitest® humedecido con agua destilada a niveles de humedad correspondientes a 1,5 y 2,5 veces el peso de papel seco. Luego las semillas se incubaron a temperaturas constantes (25 y 30 ºC) y a temperaturas variables (20-30 ºC). El procedimiento estadístico utilizado fue un diseño factorial 4 x 2 x 3 (pre-tratamiento x humedad inicial del sustrato x temperatura) completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones de 25 semillas cada una. La germinación de las semillas y el crecimiento de las plántulas de P. guineense no se vieron afectados por los tratamientos pre-germinación. Para una germinación y crecimiento óptimos las semillas de P. guineense deberían sembrarse a temperaturas de 20-30 o 25 ºC y a una humedad del sustrato de 1,5 o 2,5 veces la masa del papel seco.

This work aimed to evaluate the effect of pre-treatments with gibberellin, the initial substrate humidity, and incubation temperature on the germination of Psidium guineense Swartz seeds. The seeds were submitted to four pre-treatments with gibberellin (GA3) (50 and 100 mg L-1) and distilled water during 24 hours, and control. Sowing was carried out on Germitest® paper that was moistened with distilled water at humidity levels corresponding to 1.5 and 2.5 times the weight of dry paper. The seeds were then incubated at a constant temperature (25 or 30 ºC) and alternate temperatures (20-30 ºC). Experiments were randomized, with a factorial scheme 4 × 2 × 3 (pre-treatment × initial substrate humidity × temperature) with four replicates of 25 seeds each. Germination rate and seedling growth of P. guineense were not affected by pre-germination treatments. For an optimum germination rate and seedling growth, seeds of P. guineense should be sown at alternate temperatures of 20-30 ºC or 25 ºC and in substrate moisture of 1.5 or 2.5 times the dry paper mass.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o crescimento inicial das mudas de Guazuma ulmifolia (mutambo) sob diferentes regimes hídricos. As mudas receberam os seguintes tratamentos de água: 100%, 50%, 25% e 12,5% da capacidade de campo e foram avaliadas aos 35 e 83 dias de cultivo nos diferentes tratamentos. A sobrevivência das mudas a 12,5%cc foi menor que nos demais tratamentos, podendo ser avaliadas apenas aos 35 dias. A altura, diâmetro, área foliar, massas seca de parte aérea e raiz foram maiores sob maior disponibilidade de água, entretanto o comprimento médio das raízes não variou entre os tratamentos. A condutância estomática, fotossíntese e transpiração foram menores sob 12,5%cc, porém a eficiência no uso da água não variou entre as diferentes cc. A taxa assimilatória líquida, taxa de crescimento relativo, razão de área foliar e a abertura dos ostíolos diminuíram com as menores cc. Para a produção de mudas de Guzuma ulmifolia o regime hídrico na fase inicial deve ser de 100% da capacidade de campo, porém as mudas crescem satisfatoriamente sob 50%cc. Abaixo de 25%cc as mudas entram em estresse hídrico antes dos 35 dias de cultivo.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to evaluate the initial growth of Guazuma ulmifolia (mutambo) seedlings under different water regimen. The seedlings received the following treatments of water: 100%, 50%, 25% and 12.5% of the capacity of field and were evaluated in 35 and 83 days of cultivation in different treatments. The seedlings survival in 12.5%cc was smaller than in others treatments, being evaluated only on 35 days after the seedlings did not resist, lost completely the leaf and died. The height, diameter, the leaf area, dry mass of airy part and roots were higher under high water availability, however the medium length of the roots did not vary among the treatments. The stomatal conductance, photosynthesis and transpiration rates were lower under 12.5%cc, but the efficiency in the use of water did not vary between the different cc. The rate of liquid assimilated and relative growth, leaf area ratio and opening of ostioles decreased with low field capacity. To the production of seedlings of Guzuma ulmifolia the water regimen in initial phase must be of 100%cc, however the seedlings growth is satisfactory below 50%cc. Bellow of 25%cc the seedlings get in water stress before the 35 days of cultivation.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a germinação e o vigor de sementes e plântulas de mutambo em resposta à salinidade e a diferentes temperaturas. O experimento foi realizado em laboratório onde as sementes foram colocadas em placas de Petri com soluções salinas de KCl, NaCl e CaCl2 nos potenciais osmóticos de 0,0 (testemunha); -0,4; -0,8; -1,2; -1,6; -2,0 MPa acrescidas (CE) ou não (SE) de espermidina (100ppm). As sementes foram incubadas em BOD, nas temperaturas de 15, 20, 30 e 35ºC. Para cada sal, o delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com três repetições de 20 sementes. Não houve germinação na temperatura de 15ºC. Para os três sais ,os valores para porcentagem de germinação foram maiores a 30ºC. Os valores do índice de velocidade de germinação (IVG) diminuíram com a redução dos potenciais osmóticos (PO). O IVG e a massa fresca (MF) apresentaram maiores médias na temperatura de 30ºC. A relação raiz/ parte aérea foi significativamente maior na temperatura de 20ºC, não diferindo significativamente entre CE e SE. Os valores de MF de sementes CE reduziram-se com a diminuição dos PO. Os maiores valores de massa seca (MS) ocorreram a 30 e 35ºC nos tratamentos com KCl e NaCl e a 30ºC com o CaCl2. Não houve diferença significativa na interação entre sal e potencial osmótico para a massa seca. Nas condições controladas deste estudo, Guazuma ulmifolia apresentou germinação e crescimento de plântula em ambiente com salinidade de -2,0MPa e temperatura em torno de 30ºC, não apresentando limite de tolerância até essa concentração em nenhum dos sais avaliados.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the germination and vigor of seeds and seedlings of Guazuma ulmifolia in response to salinity and to different temperatures. The experiment was carried in laboratory where the seeds were placed in Petri plates with saline solutions of KCl, NaCl and CaCl2 in the osmotic potentials of 0.0 (control); -0.4; -0.8; -1.2; -1.6; -2.0 MPa added(CE) or not (SE) with spermidine (100ppm). The seeds were incubated in BOD at the temperatures of 15, 20, 30 and 35ºC. For each salt, the experimental design was completely randomized with 3 replicates of 20 seeds. There was no germination at 15ºC. For the three salts, values for germination percentage were the greatest at 30ºC. The values of the germination speed index (GSI) were reduced with the reduction of osmotic potentials (PO). The IVG and fresh mass (FM) presented the greatest means at 30ºC. The relationship root/aerial part was significantly higher at 20ºC, which did not significantly differed between CE and SE. The values of FM of CE seeds reduced with the reduction of the PO. The greatest values of dry mass (DM) occurred at 30 and 35ºC in the treatments with KCl and NaCl and at 30ºC for CaCl2. There was no significant difference in the interaction between salt and osmotic potentials for dry mass. In the controlled conditions of the present study, Guazuma ulmifolia presented germination and seedling growth in -2.0MPa salinized environment and temperature around 30ºC, not showing limit of tolerance up to this concentration in none of the evaluated salts.

Conduziu-se este trabalho, com o objetivo de avaliar a propagação sexuada e assexuada de Pfaffia glomerata (ginseng brasileiro). As sementes foram pré-embebidas por 24 horas em KNO3 1%; ácido giberélico 50, 100 e 200 mg L-1 ; emágua e as sementes que não receberam tratamento serviram como testemunha. A semeadura foi em placas de petri sobre duas folhas de papel de filtro e a incubação a 25ºC, sob iluminação constante e na ausência de luz. As estacas com º15 cm foram imersas durante 6 horas em IAA 250 e IBA 500 mg L-1, ácido bórico 1% e em água e plantadas em embalagem plástica, contendo terra+areia (1:1). O primeiro experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2 (níveis de luz) x 6 (tratamento de pré-embebição) em 4 repetições de 20 sementes. O segundo em DIC com 5 tratamentos, 4 repetições de 15 estacas por repetição. As sementes de ginseng brasileiro necessitam de tratamento de pré-embebição para acelerar a germinação, sendo a imersão em KNO3 o método mais eficiente, proporcionando 63% de germinação. Apresentam fotoblastismo neutro, com germinação média de 45%. As estacas de ginseng brasileiro imersas apenas em água apresentaram 100% de enraizamento, maior número de brotos (2,5) e maior comprimento de raiz (8,6 cm). A espécie apresenta potencial para ambos os métodos de propagação.

The objective of this study was to evaluate sexual and asexual propagation of Pfaffia glomerata (Brazilian Ginseng). The seeds were pre-soaked for 24 hours in KNO3 1% , gibberellic acid 50, 100, 200 mg L-1 , and in water. Untreated seeds served as control. Sowing was accomplished in petri dishes on 2 sheets of filter paper, at 25ºC incubation, under constant illumination, and in the absence of light. The cuttings with º1,5 cm were immersed for 6 hours in IAA 250 and 500mg L-1, boric acid1% ,and in water. Soon after they were planted in plastic containers with soil + sand (1:1). The first experiment was in factorial design 2 (light levels) x 6 (pre-soak treatment) in 4 repetitions of 20 seeds per repetition. The second in ERD in 5 treatments, 4 repetitions of 15 cuttings per repetition. Brazilian Ginseng seeds need pre-soak treatment to accelerate germination. We found immersion in KNO3 the most efficient method, providing 63% germination. They presented neuter photoblastism with an average germination of 45%. The Brazilian Ginseng cuttings immersed in water presented 100% rooting, a higher number of sprouts (2,5), and greater length (8,6 cm). The species presents potential for both propagation methods.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi de analisar o efeito combinado das temperaturas e dos tratamentos pré-germinativos na germinação das sementes de farinha seca (Albizia hasslerii (Chod.) Burkart.). Foram realizados 2 experimentos. No primeiro as sementes receberam os seguintes tratamentos pré-germinativos: imersão em H2SO4 PA por 10 minutos, H2SO4 20 minutos, GA3 150 mg.L-1 por 24 horas, água quente 5 minutos, água natural por 24 horas, e a testemunha, sem tratamento. No segundo experimento, as sementes foram divididas em dois lotes, um lote foi semeado logo após a colheita e o outro foi embalado em papel Kraft e armazenado por 90, 180 e 270 dias em condições de câmara fria e em temperatura ambiente. As sementes receberam os seguintes tratamentos pré-germinativos: imersão em H2SO4 PA por 20 minutos, em água natural por 24 horas, e a testemunha. A incubação ocorreu nas temperaturas de 18, 25 e 30ºC, 20-30ºC, e em casa de vegetação. Os experimentos foram realizados em DIC, sendo o primeiro em esquema fatorial de 6 x 5 e o segundo em fatorial de 3 x 5 x 4, ambos com 4 repetições de 20 sementes. O tratamento de imersão em H2SO4 por 20 minutos apresentou os maiores valores para todas as características avaliadas. As sementes armazenadas por 90 dias em câmara fria apresentaram germinação superior a 50% sem nenhum tratamento pré-germinativo e em qualquer temperatura de incubação. As plântulas provenientes de sementes armazenadas em câmara fria são mais vigorosas.

The objective of this work was to to evaluate the influence of the temperatures and the pre-germinatives treatments in germination of seeds of Albizia hasslerii. Two experiments had been carried out. In the first experiment the seeds had received the following pre-germinative treatments: immersion in H2SO4 per 10 minutes, H2SO4 per 20 minutes, GA3 150 mg. L-1 for 24 hours and the control, without treatment. For the second experiment, the seeds had been divided in two lots, one of them was sown immediately after the harvest and the other was packed in Kraft paper and stored during 90, 180 and 270 days in conditions of cold chamber and ambient temperature. The seeds had received the following pre-germinative treatments: immersion in sulfuric acid for 20 minutes, in natural water for 24 hours, and the witness. The incubation occurred in temperatures of 18ºC, 25ºC and 30ºC, 20-30ºC and in greenhouse, without control of temperature. It was evaluated germination percentage, germination speed index, the length of root and aerial part, and dry mass of seedlings. The experiments had been carried out in randomized complete design, being the first one in factorial arrangement of 6 x 5 and the second in factorial arrangement of 3 x 5 x 4, both with 4 repetitions of 20 seeds. The sulfuric acid treatment for 20 minutes presented the highest values for all the evaluated characteristics. The seeds stored for 90 days in cold chamber had presented germination superior than 50% without any pre-germinative treatment and in any temperature of incubation. Seedlings proceeding from seeds stored in cold chamber had been more vigorous.

Objetivou-se, com esse trabalho, avaliar o efeito do bioestimulante Stimulate®, aplicado ou não em diferentes fases do desenvolvimento do algodoeiro cv. Delta Opal, (Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivado em casa de vegetação e submetido ou não ao estresse hídrico. Foram aplicados 25, 60 e 100% do volume total de poros (VTP) preenchidos com água e o Stimulate® aplicado na semente, na semente e na fase de botão floral e sem a aplicação do bioestimulante, aos 69 dias após a semeadura. A duração do estresse hídrico foi de 15, 30 e 45 dias após a aplicação do estresse hídrico. O algodoeiro cv Delta Opal não tolerou deficiência hídrica de 25% VTP iniciado na fase de botão floral, sendo observadas as menores alturas, diâmetros de colo, número de folhas, e comprometendo também a formação de estruturas reprodutivas. O bioestimulante na dose e na forma aplicada não proporcionou melhoras no desenvolvimento das plantas quando submetidas à falta de água, já em plantas submetidas ao excesso de água, houve aumento do diâmetro do colo das plantas.

This work was aimed at evaluating the effect of biostimulant Stimulate® applied or not at different development stages of cotton plant cv Delta Opal, (Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivated in greenhouse, subjected or not to water stress. Applications of 25, 60 and 100% of total volume of pores (VTP) filled up with water were conducted, and then Stimulate® was sprinkled over the seed and on the flower bud stage, without biostimulant application 69 days after sowing. The water stress time period was that of 15, 30 and 45 days after water stress application. The cotton plant cv Delta Opal did not tolerate hydric deficit of 25% VTP on the flower bud set off, where smaller heights as well as smaller colon diameters and flower number were observed, all of which also endanger reproductive structure formation. The use of biostimulant on the dosage and the type of application did not render any improvement on plant development when submitted to lack of water; nevertheless there was a colon diameter increase on plants subjected to water excess.

Como a abundância e diversidade da mesofauna edáfica em ecossistemas florestais é grande, objetivou-se, no presente estudo avaliar a flutuação e o número populacional de indivíduos da mesofauna, entre eles Acari e Collembola, em três fragmentos de matas situados na aldeia Bororó e Jaguapiru e o outro na fazenda Azulão na Região de Dourados-MS. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3 (fragmentos) x 5 (indivíduos) x 15 (épocas de amostragem), com 10 repetições. As amostragens foram realizadas quinzenalmente, no período de fevereiro a setembro de 2005. Os indivíduos foram coletados através do funil de Berlesse modificado. Os ácaros Oribatida (Arachinida: Acari) foram os que apresentaram maiores números populacionais, diferindo estatisticamente dos Gamasida (Arachinida: Acari) e dos indivíduos Enthomobriidae (Collembola), no período de março, maio e agosto de 2005, em todos os fragmentos analisados. O porcentual de indivíduos da fauna edáfica, nos três fragmentos, diferiram estatisticamente, sendo maior no fragmento Azulão.

As the abundance and diversity of soil mesofauna in forest ecosystems is large, the aim of this present study was to evaluate the fluctuation and the populational number of individuals from mesofauna, amongst them Acari and Collembola, in three parts of forests placed in Bororó and Jaguapiú tribes and another one in Azulão farm, in a region of Dourados-MS. The experiment was led in a totally random outline in factorial 3 (fragment) x 5 (individuals) x 15 (period of sampling) with 10 repetitions. The samplings were carried out fortnightly, from February to September of 2005. The individuals were collected through a modified Berlesse funnel. Individuals Oribatida (Arachinida: Acari) were those which presented the highest populational numbers, differing statistically from Gamasida (Arachinida: Acari) and individuals Enthomobriidae (Collembola) during march, may and august of 2005, in all analysed parts. The individuals percentage from soil fauna in the three parts differed themselves statistically, being higher in Azulão area.

Este trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar o impacto da fragmentação sobre a dinâmica populacional de indivíduos da mesofauna edáfica em três fragmentos de florestas nativas na região de Dourados, MS, sendo dois deles localizados em área indígena (Jaguapiru e Bororó) e o terceiro em outra área não indígena (fazenda Azulão). Para avaliar o impacto da fragmentação, foi avaliado o número de Acari Oribatida e Gamasida e insetos Collembola nas três áreas de estudo, utilizando o funil de Berlesse modificado. Observou-se que o fragmento Bororó apresentou um número médio total de 8,42 organismos seguido da Jaguapirú com 11,25 e Azulão com 16,74. Os Acari Oribatida e Gamasida foram os mais numerosos nas três áreas estudadas.

This work aimed to evaluate the impact of fragmentation on populational dynamic of individual of soil mesofauna in three fragments of native forests in Dourados-MS, from which two of them are located inside indigenous area (Jaguapiru and Bororó) and the third in a non-indigenous area (Azulão farm). For evaluating the impact of fragmentation, number of Oribatid and Gamasida Acari and Collembola insects in these three areas of study was evaluated using a modified Berlesse funnel. It was observed that Bororó fragment presented a total average number of 8.42 organisms, Jaguapiru with 11.25 and Azulão with 16.74. Oribatida and Gamasida Acari were the most numerous organisms in both three studied areas.

Avaliou-se o potencial de germinação das sementes de orelha-de-macaco após os tratamentos pré-germinativos e o crescimento inicial das mudas tratadas com ácido giberélico (GA) e sombreamento. As sementes receberem os seguintes tratamentos de escarificação + embebição: 1) H2SO4/5'; 2) H2SO4/5'+água/24 h; 3) H2SO4/5'+GA 200 mg.L-1/24 h; 4) H2SO4/5'+KNO3 1%/24 h; 5) H2SO4/10'; 6) H2SO4 /10' +água/24 h; 7) H2SO4/10'+GA 200 mg.L-1/24 h; 8) H2SO4 /10'+ KNO3 1%/24 h; 9) Água 24/ h; e 10) testemunha e a semeadura em casa de vegetação. As mudas foram tratadas com GA 0, 50 e 100 mg.L-1 e mantidas em sombrite 50% de sombra e a pleno sol até 180 dias após a semeadura. Não se observou germinação na testemunha e na imersão apenas em água. A emergência, TMPA, MSR e MSPA não variaram entre os tratamentos de escarificação (média de 89%; 6,55 cm; 0,08 g; e 1,8 g; e o TMR em H2SO4 /10'+ KNO3 (13,73 cm). Com base nesses resultados, as sementes podem ser escarificadas por 10'com H2SO4. As mudas a pleno sol apresentaram maior altura (51,94 cm), MSF (3,6 g), MSPA (7,21 g), MSR (4,27 g) e MST (11,59 g). A TAL, RAF e TCR não variaram entre os níveis de luz e tratamentos com GA. As doses de giberelina estudadas não alteraram o crescimento das mudas.

The germination potential of 'Orelha de macaco" seeds after pre-germination treatments and the initial growth of seedlings treated with gibberellic acid (GA) and shade were evaluated. Seeds received the following treatments of scarification and imbibition: 1) H2SO4/5 minutes; 2) H2SO4/5 minutes + water/24 hours; 3) H2SO4/10 minutes + GA 200 mg.L-1/24 hours; 4) H2SO4/5 minutes + KNO3 1%/24 hours; 5) H2SO4/10 minutes; 6) H2SO4/10 minutes + water/24 hours; 7) H2SO4/10 minutes + GA 200mg.L-1/24 hours; 8) H2SO4/10 minutes + KNO3 1%/24 hours; 9) water 24 hours; 10) control and sowing was carried out in green house. Seedlings were treated with GA 0.50 and 100 mg.L-1 and kept under 50% shade and in full sun up to 180 days after sowing. There was no germination in the control and for imbibition only in water. Emergence, LR, DMR and DMAP did not vary between scarification treatments (89% mean, 6.55cm, 0.08 g and 1.8g, LR in H2SO4/10 minutes + KNO3 (13.73). Based on these results, seeds can be scarified for 10 minutes with H2SO4. Seedlings in full sun showed the highest height (51.94 cm), DML (3.6g), DMAP 97.21g), DMR (4.27g) and TDM (11.59g). ALR, LAR and RGR did not vary between light intensity and GA treatments. The studied doses of gibberellin did not alter seedling growth.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da temperatura, do tempo de armazenamento e de tratamentos pré-germinativos na porcentagem de emergência (%E) e no índice de velocidade de emergência (IVE) de jacarandá (Jacaranda cuspidifolia Mart.). O experimento foi conduzido em fatorial 5 x 2 x 4 (cinco períodos de armazenamento (0, 30, 60, 90 e 150 dias) x 2 temperaturas (12 ± 2º C e 25 ± 2º C) x 4 tratamentos pré-germinativos (1- Imersão em GA 125 mg L-1 /24 h; 2- Imersão em GA 250 mg L-1 /24 h; 3- Imersão em água quente; 4- Testemunha), em DIC com cinco repetições de 30 sementes. A emergência aumentou de 29% no tempo zero a 79% aos 150 dias, sendo que as sementes podem ser armazenadas por 150 dias, alcançando emergência superior a 70% sem nenhum tratamento pré-germinativo. Embora o IVE não tenha variado entre os tratamentos aos 150 dias nas sementes sob refrigeração (média de 0,82) e sob temperatura ambiente, o maior valor foi observado nas sementes tratadas com água quente e GA 250 mg.L-1 (0,41).

This work aimed to evaluate the effect of temperature, period of storage and pregerminative treatments on the emergence percentage (E %) and emergence speed index (SEI) of Jacarandá (Jacaranda cuspidifolia Mart.). The experiment was carried out in factorial 5 x 2 x 4 (5 storage periods (0, 30, 60, 90 and 150 days) C 2 temperatures (12 ± 2ºC and 25 ± 2ºC ) C 4 pregerminative treatments (1- immersion in GA 125 mg .L-1 / 24 hours; 2- immersion in GA 250 mg L-1 / 24 hours; 3- immersion in hot water; 4- control), in DIC with 5 replications of 30 seeds. The emergence increased from 29% at the first day to 79 % at the 150th day. The seeds may be stored for 150 days reaching emergence higher than 70% without any pregerminative treatment. Although there was no SEI change among the treatments after storage of seeds for 150 days under refrigeration (average 0.82), the highest value was observed with seeds kept at room temperature and treated with hot water and GA 250 mg.L-1 was 0.41.
